Chantilly Show Loot Part 2: Oddballs

Got so much I have to break it up into several posts.

That's my total haul stacked up.

Here are some of the cool oddballs I found for myself....

Most are for player collections.  Fregosi Bazooka, Palmer Milk Duds, Bench cloth sticker for the set I started in Ephrata, Padres checklist subset killer, Tiant LL O-Pee-Chees, and variation '62.

But the cream of the crops were the ones on the left.

Yep, Venezuelans!  The Briles is especially nice since there are no paste spots on the back.  And only a little glue on Manny Mota.

Stay Tuned for some major vintage set hits...almost killed one completely!

  1. It's nice to see that you were already able to get one of your desired Milk Duds... and probably the most expensive one to boot!

  2. Nothing wrong with a little glue on vintage cards. It's like a gum or wax stain... it adds character to the card.

As Fuji said a little glue on the back adds character heck we would get the old Piedmont cigarettes smoking behind the old woodshed in fear of the old man catching us smoking & all we wanted was the little card that came out them. I recall getting this kid from Pittsburg Wegner or Dagner of the sort I can't recall the name unless I hear it again I had 30 of these cards & being a Philadelphia Athletics fan of Eddie Plank & Sherry Magee I didn't care for the Pittsburg player so I must have glued them in the back of the photo album or used them for toilet paper I often wondered what ever happened to that player in his career cause that's 1 card hopefully is still cheap that I could refind to put in my collection again since I miss those cards. As for the Piedmont cigarettes I have not smoked anything since being caught by the old man 3 years after buying them for the cards.

  5. The shows we go to must have a lot of the same vendors -- I'm almost positive your Venezuelans came from the same guy I bought my first Venezuelan from at the local show here last month (a '62 Piersall). I almost bit on one of the '67s as well (maybe next time!). Looks like a great haul!

  6. Awesome cards. I was at the show on Saturday wearing my Steelers hoodie and 71 Pirates hat. It would have been cool to meet up with a fellow blogger.
